GLAN GWNA HOLIDAY PARK OWNERS UPDATE

1st April 2021

The Welsh First Minister has announced today that current restrictions on travel into Wales will be lifted on 12th April.

They have confirmed all remaining non-essential retail and close contact services will be allowed to re-open from Monday 12 April, while the rules will also be changed to allow travel into and out of Wales from the rest of the United Kingdom and Common Travel Area.

This will allow holidaymakers to come to Wales with self contained accommodation already open.

We are delighted with the Government announcement and very much look forward to welcoming everyone back to Glan Gwna.

( Changes remain subject to public health conditions continuing to remain favourable.)

26th March 2021

The Welsh Government have revealed a series of measures easing the lockdown in Wales.

From Saturday 27 March 2021 stay at home restrictions will be lifted in Wales and self-contained accommodation will be able to reopen.

However - Self-contained accommodation may re-open but only to customers from Wales and from a single household.

Holiday providers are urged not to take Easter bookings from outside Wales as people in England cannot holiday in other parts of the UK until 12th April 2021 at the earliest.

This means that people living in England will not be allowed to travel to Wales for a holiday this Easter, Wales' First Minister has confirmed. Self-contained tourism accommodation can reopen in time for the Easter holidays, but only for people who already live in Wales.

The Minister has quoted " We'll keep this under review and if the public health situation remains positive, travel in and out of Wales will resume on 12th April 2021"

Times are certainly looking more positive, and there's finally some light at the end of the tunnel!  Firstly may we thank you all for your patience and understanding during these trying times.

Following the Prime Minister's announcement last week (UK), and the First Minister's previous announcement (Wales), it's safe to say things are looking up and we now have some idea of when Glan Gwna will be open to the public again. We're following the news just as closely as you, and although an opening date has not yet been confirmed by the Welsh Government, we'd like to update you on where things currently stand.

We're extremely encouraged by Boris Johnson's (UK Government) announcement that self-contained holidays in the UK will be allowed from 12th April, and we are hopeful that Mark Drakeford (Welsh Government) will follow a similar course of action. In a press conference last week, Mr Drakeford has said that some hospitality accommodation in Wales may be open by Easter.

The First Minister was very cautious, but said that the Welsh Government was looking at the possibility of some "limited" re-opening of self-contained accommodation only. This is considered safer as there are no 'shared facilities,' and will be the first step in re-opening the tourism sector in Wales. Mixing with other households, in this case, would not be permitted, but one household should be able to visit their holiday homes.

The next Welsh Government review is around March 12th, and will hopefully address guidelines relating to self-contained holidays.

Why do Wales and England have different rules?

We've received a few enquiries along the lines of 'if the UK Government has confirmed an opening date, why hasn't Wales?'

We appreciate that many of our owners live in England, but ask you all to kindly bear in mind that here we are subject to Welsh Government guidelines. We therefore politely remind you to check the Welsh Government's guidelines - or check our website / instagram for a further update about North Wales.

Here at the park we are working hard to ensure we are safely functioning, with the full measures in place to make your stay as stress-free and risk-free as possible. We're rearing to go - but we're just waiting for an official thumbs-up before announcing a date.

As soon as we know, we'll let you know via email, social media and our website : www.glangwna.com

Here's to a sunny spring and summer, and soon, we'll be saying a big CROESO to you all !
